You have a lot to think about when it comes to moving so it is easy to forget that you have not actually confirmed that you want to use a particular removalist, especially if you have mentioned dates and have made enquiries with a number of different removalists.

Also if you have discussed different options, confirm the particular ones you want, eg. Pre-packing. Do not leave it to the night before – once you have decided, make sure you have confirmation of booking for your requirements.

PAYMENT

Customers are advised to carefully check on the payment requirements of the individual removalists. At the beginning of the job, the customer should know what they have to pay, and when, particularly if the nature of the task has been changed with short notice (eg: you have decided to have the removalist pack for you).

The removal and storage industry is primarily based on payment for services when received or in advance. Customers who require account facilities must discuss these with management prior to removal. A removal crew may not be empowered or equipped to deal with an account request.

If you have cartons for your own use sold by the removalist, this will often form a separate part of their accounting and it is normal practice to obtain payment for cartons as they are supplied.
